SkyNet and Griffith University partner to bring impact through Work Integrated Learning

Two Griffith University Work Integrated Learning (WIL) students, Ronald Valdez and Miselo Ilarupa have been selected to join the SkyNet Aviation team during their final university semester, supporting the team to propel the delivery of self-paced e-learning for clients.

The team sat down with Ronald Valdez, a current Master of Aviation Management student with Griffith University to learn more about what interests him in the field of aviation and what he will be delivering during his WIL.

Inside the twelve weeks

Ronald’s background in Aircraft Maintenance, saw him complete training within the Military Academy in the Philippines, before moving to Australia to complete his Master’s education and is now embedded within the SkyNet Aviation team. During his 12-week WIL experience, Ronald will be delivering a complete User Manual,
detailing step-by-step training instructions to configure the REACH Next Generation (NG) software based on specific airline, aircraft and crew requirements, along with a video guide for users to follow along at their own pace.

Already almost halfway through the learning experience, Ronald and Miselo will produce close to 100 videos and step-by-step instructions to allow users the flexibility to self-support, and to ensure they have all of the tools at their disposal 24 hours a day.

At the completion of the User Manual and Video guides, the student team will hand over to in house engineers to create a word matching Chatbot; elevating the self-help solution even further.

Clients will be able to type their query or key words into the Chatbot and it will produce instantaneous guidance they can follow.

When asked what Ronald has been surprised most about since taking on this opportunity, he shared that Recency and Data requirements were so complex and significant. We think most operators can agree here!
With a solution like REACH NG, the complexities with managing recency and maintaining accurate data are simplified as the rules engine is built around client rulesets and configuration is managed with the local SkyNet
Aviation team readily available. It will be made even easier with the release of self-guided training materials. Current and future clients will be able to access these tools through a SkyNet issued portal, at their convenience, elevating their work and ensuring that they can focus on matters most for their airline.
SkyNet looks forward to rolling these tools out to our domestic and international clients and thank Griffith University for supporting students’ real-world learning; driving real impact in aviation.
